- Project Overview -
For my junior year design class, me and a group of fellow engineers were tasked with creating a unique interpretation of an already existing product.
We opted to design a sitting/standing desk by utilizing a unique scissor-jack bar linkage to do so.
This required force and truss analysis, along with motor selection and a rack/pinion gear train powering the upward and downward motion.
Part of this project required failure analysis at the joints lifting and lowering the desk, along with the forces put onto the rack/pinion gear train and shafts.
The calculations that accomodated tooth, gear, and motor selection can be viewed within the final report.
For the in-class portion of this design project, a final presentation on the design process for the standing/sitting desk was given.
